Well, in this case, the knitter's husband had no hats. The other night, Mike, not so subtlely, reminded me that he had chosen yarn for two hats while we were in Minnesota. Being that it is January, in Chicago, he was really going to need some follow-through on my part, or he was going to have to buy a new hat. From a store.
Oh, the shame of it. My husband, wearing a machine-knit hat. What would people think? ...I couldn't allow it.
I grabbed the worsted tweed from the cubby. Mike selected a relatively simple cabled beanie. And, I set to work immediately.
By the following morning, a hat.
It's a warm hat. It fits him well. He says he likes it. I think he looks cute in it.
I do like a man in wool.

Hello!
It is true, husbands of knitters don't have so many knitted things!
I knitted just one hat for my husband, last year, and he wore it just 1 or 2 times...
But yours husband's hat is awesome!!
I love the pattern!

Ha! My similarly hatless husband did look at me sideways when I knitted his brother-in-law a hat for Christmas, then had him model it for me. Glad you fixed your oversight, it does look great on him, Guess it's time to get on board!

Really great hat, have added it to my list as I've a son who's crazy about beanies.

Thank goodness you made him this hat. Store bought? I shudder to think of it. He looks really handsome in it and it looks like it fits perfectly!

My husband has no knit hats either. I was going to make him one once and I just never got around to it. I'm not that upset about it, to be honest. Where we live now, we no longer have a real need for warm hats...however, when/if we visit home (Wisconsin) in the winter, we'll need them. So, I have a couple on hand :)

Great hat for your husband, it looks great on him and seems like it will do the job in a cold Chicago winter. I've added the pattern to my queue, my husband likes when I make him hats, even though I think he lost a cabled beanie made with Koigu, I may not forgive him for that...

I'm sure a fan of that hat pattern, it is perfect for men. It can be surprisingly difficult to find knits for men that they actually like too. Perfect yarn choice too!

This hat is fantastic! I love the tweed yarn and the cables, it just looks warm and cozy. Definitely adding this pattern to my queue.

I think I must knit something for my husband too. I sewed him a babajeza sweater though. :-) Happy weekend. Regula

At first glance I thought it was a picture of Bradley Cooper! The hat looks very good on him.

Lovely hat Michelle! The yarn was made for the pattern (or vice versa) ;-)

Looks amazing! I love it! What a lucky man! And lucky for you that your husband doesn't insist on wearing a commercially made Pittsburgh Steelers toque despite having a beautiful hand knit hat already... :)
