I debated posting this project. There's something a little.... embarrassing???  about posting pictures of one's pants on the internet. I officially feel like you all know a whole lot more about me than you did before you got here.
Picture
It's not like I'm bashful. And, it's not like I'm wearing them (Hi MOM!). I hope I haven't crossed too many boundaries here.

I couldn't resist. I'm so pleased with myself for having sewed my first pairs of unders! All the kids are doing it. And, if they jumped off a bridge... you catch my drift. So, when Laurie and Kerrilee put their challenge out, I decided to join in.
Picture
I used the only stretch fabrics I had laying around. The blue is left over from my Sew For Victory dress.  I might go back to Vogue Fabric and buy it in every color to make more. It's heavier than the white and turned out amazingly well and very comfortable (oversharing?). The pattern is Rosy Ladyshorts by Cloth Habit, which is available for FREE! It only took me three hours to complete both pairs! How's that for instant gratification? I'm so chuffed about these, I might have to buy every pattern I can find and make a pile! Have you wandered down this road? Do you have any tips on where to buy fold-over elastic, stretch lace, etc???

I think them delightful! Good on you for being up to the challenge. I am so particular about my unders that I should probably make my own, but I fear my machine is too old and needs a major overhaul to handle anything so delicate. Love the blue pair.

Well done! They turned out great :) I really must venture into the world of undergarment sewing to use up scraps of fabric. I always buy extra in case and have loads left over!

It would never have occurred to me to sew my own skivvies! You did a fabulous job - I'd be proud too! And it is only slightly awkward to be admiring your underthings... :-)

Funny you should post this today. I stumbled across a site last week that talked about sewing your own underthings - bras and pants of all styles. I was totally intrigued by it and got to wondering why we seem to accept outer garments as being handmade but inner garments like socks and underthings are usually commercially made and people look at you with a raised eyebrow if you say you make your own. I can't tell you how many people have seen me knitting socks and said "You know you can get those at Walmart right."
Good for you - I think these are lovely.

Love, love, LOVE these! Job well done! I simply MUST try my hand at a pair or two of these. I can see how these could become incredibly addictive to churn through! Thanks for posting!

I buy almost all of my elastic and stretch lace for my knickers on Etsy. Seriously, there are a couple of retailers on there (I think they're based in china) where I can buy the elastic for 20c a meter. WHAT>?>?>??! Amazing. Good on you for venturing into knicker land! You've inspired me to post a few more of the ones I've made now!
