Ah! This post, along with everything else I'm working on, is behind schedule. Mea culpa. It's time for me to take a few deep breaths and collect my thoughts in a more meaningful manner, so I can start to catch-up with myself. Before we round-up the first week of MMMAY, I have to share my extreme delight over my latest culinary conquest: BBQ Pulled Jackfruit. Mike and I have been craving this since we drove throughFort Collins last summer. We've spent the better part of a year looking for jackfruit in our local groceries, to no avail. Then Mike found Hmart. We made a special trip to the North burbs to get it. Those of you who eat veg are likely terrified by how similar this fruit looks to meat. I was too. But, it's totally friendly and completely delicious, especially topped with some slaw and pickles! If you have access to jackfruit, vegetarian or not, you should make this sandwich ASAP. Speaking of access to jackfruit... have you guys been to an HMart?!? It was completely surreal and really cool.  It was a mad-house while we were there, and I had some initial culture shock, so I didn't get to fully take it all in. But, WOW.

OKay, okay... enough blabbering. Here are the Pieces I incorporated into my first week:
4534420_orig Day 1: Me-Made Blouse and Skirt
DSC_0302 Day 3: Self-Knit Sweater, Self-Knit Socks, and undies.
DSC_0345 Day 5: Last year's MadMen dress
DSC_0296 Day 2: Me-Made Dress and Self-Knit Sweater

Day 4:Me-Made Dress
The first week went well. I was easily able to pull clothing out of my wardrobe and put together outfits. The weather toyed with me on Friday and forced me back into some wool-wear. But, that's not really a problem, as far as I'm concerned. I had a lot more fun with my clothes than I normally do. Skirts and dresses most of the week- a break-away from my standard jeans/sweater/tshirt uniform. Most days, I was able to exceed my goal of wearing one Me-Made item. And, I haven't repeated any garments yet, which is icing on the cake. I stink at self-portraits. Thank goodness Mike is usually able to take pictures for me. I'm feeling pretty confident going into week two. Are you participating in #MMMay13 ? Do you wear you Me-Made clothes on the regular?

Jackfruit! I never knew the English name for it! The back story here is I was vacationing in Thailand while living in Asia a few years ago and the staff at the resort spent a few hours staring at a tree and talking. Eventually one of the guys when into a hut and got out a HUGE knife and cut one of these things off the bottom of the tree. They took it to the bar where they cut it up and offered everyone pieces of it. Wonderful stuff, but they didn't know the English word for it and I've since forgotten the Thai name.
As for the clothes, I say Bravo to you for being able to look so pulled together and stylish.

I love your outfits. I think my favourite is the first skirt/top combo. The colours are just amazing. But they are all great! I wear my me-mades regularly but didn't participate in mmm13. I have participated the past me made challenges but usually didn't finish. I know bad. So I am wearing my me mades anyway but without the pressure of "having to"
I love following the challenge in bloggerland though.
