This blanket is in the mail. It's headed to a little girl. I don't know her. She lives in the town where I grew-up. And, she's very sick.
Picture
I don't do a lot of requests, but when I got an email asking me to knit this particular pattern as a donation to a fundraising auction, I felt compelled to oblige.
Picture
Once upon a time, I was a very sick little girl. I was lucky to have the support and help of a large community. I can be certain I never thanked them all. Further, I'm positive there are people whose names I've never known who did things to care for me and my family during all the hospital stays, surgeries and periods of not knowing. And, I know, without question, that all of those things mattered.
Picture
I got better. And, I've stayed better for a long time. I hope Katie does too. While knitting a blanket won't cure what ails her, I hope it helps to show that there are people in her corner rooting for her. Keep fighting.

It's gorgeous. I wish I had more time to knit more things that I'm willing to part with. I've got to make at least two Project Linus blankets, as Little Man received two during his hospital visits.

Sometimes, it's the little things.

This is so touching and you are such a wonderful person to be trying to help her even if it seems like a small gesture to you. She is going to love it, maybe that little bit of comfort and happiness will be what it takes to push her over into recovery, the brain is very powerful and responds to positive emotions like hope and gratitude.

What a lovely blanket and a lovely heart behind it. <3 Your thoughtfulness is a reminder of how fragile we humans really are and how much we need each other. Praying for the little one.

Your post gave me shivers. What a wonderful thing to do. I didn't know you were sick as a youngster, I'm so pleased to hear you had wonderful support, and of course, that you are doing well. I hope the wee girl getting this blanket has the same outcome. xxx
