I failed to mention these mitts in my recent round-up of WIPs. They, like the others before them, are a gift. They're a long overdue token of thanks. During the holidays, I received a gorgeous stone, drip- glazed tea pot. My boss' wife is an incredibly talented potter, and she is so kind and generous as to send him to the office with pieces for me to take home. I look incredibly forward to receiving them. Her work is incredible. My favorite way to show my appreciation of a handcrafted gift is to give a handcrafted gift. I feel like those of us who create have a kindred sense of the care and effort that goes into manipulating materials into new forms, whether it be clay, or yarn, ingredients to a recipe, or the like. It's really satisfying to make these types of exchanges.

So cute. The knit stitches look like little hearts. I am sure she will adore them.

I think exchanging handmade for handmade is great, I love giving my handmade items to people in general, but I feel really good about it when it goes to someone who appreciates it so much!

I love the mittens! I just made my first pair of thrummed mittens and they are the warmest, softest things ever. I'm sure the recipient will love them!
