I wasn't looking forward to writing this post. I knew, and have known for a long time, I wasn't going to make it to my goal. It was ambitious to think I would be able to knit 12 sweaters, 12 pairs of socks, and sew 12 garments over the course of the year. This is the second year I've attempted and failed. I'm sure It's not impossible. Perhaps, if I didn't have a day job.... Maybe if I didn't take month long breaks from blogging... Perhaps, if I was less lazy... the list of excuses goes on. Overall, I was far less productive this year than I was last year. But, in review, I'm pleased with the things I made. While I didn't make my goal, collecting and recounting the things I did accomplish this year, was a surprisingly enjoyable experience. I knit ELEVEN sweaters. I knit EIGHT pairs of socks I knit Three hats, Three pairs of mittens and TWO blankets And, I completed SIX sewn garments. Based on my best estimation from the notes I kept and Ravelry, I knit approximately 14,500 yards of yarn this year, which is a lot, but it's more than 8,500 yards less than I knit in 2011! (WOW!).
At this point, I have several projects on the brink of completion. It's totally possible I'm not finished finishing things for the year. Regardless, there won't be any major changes to this list. And, I'm pretty ready to relax for the rest of 2012. I'm geared up to start 2013. How about you? Did you meet your goals for 2012?

My self-imposed year of projects is coming to a close and I did pretty well. My list changed a couple times but in the end, I had 32 finished projects (and I doubt my remaining 3 WIPs will be finished by this weekend). That's pretty good for me. I had 12 hats, a couple pairs of socks, a load of dishcloths, some baby items (blanket, sweater, toys)...nothing major (my shawl remains in the WIP pile but I made huge progress). I've made my plans for the next year, I think...I don't foresee doing any better or worse, just different :)

Nope, not even close to my goal for this year. On top of that, I sorted my Ravelry projects by "recently completed" today just for funs and realized I've barely managed to average 1 project/month this year. Shameful. But I did love just about everything I've made this year so overall I'm not disappointed. (And I wouldn't be if I were you, either - everything you've made this year is beautiful!)

Eleven sweaters is impressive. Eight pairs of sock, ditto. And Blankets?? They take forever. So all in all, VERY impressive, missy. I am going to take a further lurk at your blog.

OH MY GOODNESS!! You think you "failed" because you didn't complete your list, that's craziness my friend : ) I don't knit (much) so the thought of doing a pair of socks just boggles my mine, let alone EIGHT pair! I've had a pair of fingerless gloves on my needled for TWO years now, I work on them at my girlfriends New Years Day party every year. This year I might get the second half of the first one done. You've done an amazing amount of work!! I'd give myself a hand and have a cup of tea (or something stronger if that is your style) and call it a happy and successful year : ) Can't wait to see what you finish up and start next!!!!

Your projects totally blew me away. Amazing! Especially the sweaters. And those brilliant red and grey socks. My goal for 2013 is to knit more sweaters.
