These are the Socks that Never End...

Yes, they go on, and on, my friends... Or, so it seems.

I knit the left sock, from the gusset onward, minimum, four times. See, while the pattern produces an amazingly gorgeous sock, it leaves a bit to be desired in the clarity of chart modification for the separate sizes. At any rate, things have resolved themselves appropriately, and I am happy to report that January socks have found their way to my feet in finished form. Yet, I don't like them.

As I sit writing this, I'm contemplating ripping them to oblivion and replacing this month's socks with a nice, non-torturous variety. Why, you ask? Because, these socks are SO BIG I could probably fit at least three pair underneath them. Perhaps, instead of salvaging the yarn, I could hang them at Christmas as stockings?

I'm pretty disappointed. Basically, the reason I bought this book, was for this pattern. And, well, it's just not meant to be. Maybe someday, if my feet grow three sizes and swell up like watermelons. (Can I just add, those of us with petite feet are GROSSLY under-represented when it comes to sock patterns, that is all).

I love them! They look really great! Oh man though, is there anything worse than reknitting the first sock over and over, knowing you still have to do the second one?
p.s. Let's catch up soon! Are you guys in town these days?

I know how you feel. I have yet to knit a single pair of socks that couldn't fit another pair under it. Basically all they're good for is sleeping in, and then nobody gets to see their awesomeness. I love Cookie's patterns, but have yet to conquer them, so congrats on that, even though they are too big. Nice color choice also.

They are gorgeous, but I totally understand your frustration! I've had that happen with more than one sweater I've knit. Talk about being disappointed!

I'm so sorry that these don't fit you well, because oh my gosh, they're beautiful. Such lovely yarn, and you knit the pattern beautifully even if the pattern and your feet aren't a match made in heaven.

They look like works of art. Frame 'em. It would be a shame to put shoes on them anyway!

They are so beautiful. Do you love someone with giant feet? I mean, really love them, because those socks would be the gift of a life time.

Oh, god, I hear you on the sock sizing problem. I don't often knit from patterns because of it. I have tons of just plain stockinette or ribbed socks. When I want something fancier there are usually heavy mods involved. Working on my first Cookie A's now and I'm worried they'll be too big. Yours are gorgeous, though, even if they are the wrong size.
