Where There's a Will...

The glory of having completed my first pair of jammies is fading fast, and I'm quickly approaching panic mode. After a brief review of my to-do list and the deadlines I had anticipated for each of the items on it, I realized I am almost a week behind schedule. Crap! I think this is exactly the reason I've avoided making any holiday gifts in years past. I suck with deadlines. I'm a total procrastinator, always have been, and I guess it hasn't changed.

I worked until 11:30pm last night, then had a kettle on and was sitting at my sewing machine by 6:00 this morning to squeeze in an hour before I had to get ready to leave for work. I'm trying to focus on the bright side. Pajamas #2 & #3 seem to be coming together a bit more quickly than my first pair. They're cut from the same fabric, so I'm making them simultaneously. I started on the pants first and I'm in good shape to start on the tops tomorrow (even panic mode can't stop me from going to knit tonight). Mike has kindly volunteered to make a run to the fabric store to pick up the additional supplies I need to complete pajamas #4, which easily saves me an hour or two. He's the best.

Pair 1of3 (!!!!DOUBLECRAP!!!) thrummed mittens are separated from the finish line by a single digit. I can't figure out why I'm moving so slowly on these. It's time to focus ALL of the knitting time I have towards getting these done. While we're on the subject, does anyone know, will a soak help to 'set' the thrums, or should I leave them as is after bind-off. I'm using Berroco Ultra Alpaca and Malabrigo Rasta and the halo is a little out of control. Suggestions?

In silver linings, I did finish a sweater... For myself... That's not on the list... (palm to forehead). I hope you're more diciplined than I've been. How are your holiday and year-end projects coming along?

I get your panic. I was making mitts for a friend for a secret santa gift and I was finishing them in the car on the way to the exchange. I wasn't driving....but that hasn't stopped me from knitting before...anyway I get your pain. You can do it just focus on one thing at a time.

LOL. OMG. I love that you needed to clarify that you weren't the one driving, because it's totally not beyond possibility for a knitter in a crunch. :-D

I love that sweater! I've coveted it a long time, but haven't made the time to make it yet. We'd love to see it modeled sometime ;)

Now, back to gift knitting for me!

Your projects look fantastic. I'm behind on my Christmas crafts as well... seems like I keep getting distracted.

Who are we kidding. There are too many amazing projects to focus on just one at a time. Distraction comes with the territory. :-D

I think I've made about four pairs of thrummed socks. I did soak all of them after I finished, which did control the frizziness on the outside. Just make sure you set them in front of a fan, because they take for-ev-er to dry out.

Is that the February Fitted pullover pattern?

first... THRUMMED SOCKS! I'm losing my mind over the thought of how cozy those probably are. Second. Thanks for the pro-tip! I'm totally going to give these a dip. And, third. YES! It is the February Fitted Pullover. And, I'm totally in love with it.

Holiday knitting is, for the most part, finished. I have to finish the hair on Little Man's giraffe, attach it and the spots, and then I think I'm done with the holiday crap and can focus on mememememe!

Don't feel bad. I, too, am a procrastinator. I always have been. Usually, things get done when I need them to.
